It's raining Glorias. Our Boston seller has another Garibaldina on ebay at present. This one is listed as circa 1940s in exceptional, original condition. Wonderful patina with a nice complement of Gloria labelled parts. Where does he find them? And how did he get the Gaslo tape so white?
My heart hurts. I want one.

This Gloria, nice though it looks, is an amalgam of parts. Yes, it looks like a racing bike. But that's not what it was when new. See the pump pegs on the seat tube? Their racing bikes didn't have these, just their city, touring and children's bikes. I have 4 of their catalogs -- '35/'36, '38, '39 and '50. There is not a single racing frame in any of those catalogs that has these pegs. Caveat emptor.

It's a pretty bike, just not original and unrestored. As to the the whiteness of the tape, that's what NOS Gaslo tape looks like. You can still find it on eBay. Nice stuff. It has a creamier color than Velox. I used it on one my Glorias. The effect is much the same.

Not the case at all, and gridplan should do his research beyond catalog prints. This bike is as stated, and not "an amalgam of parts". Garibaldina Extra's were significantly different in design and construction than all other bikes in the Gloria range. Tubing was double butted, frame angles more steep, and the headtube features a neat detail to lighten it: the entire headtube is cutout around the lugs with just a slight overlap so the lugs could be brazed. If you look inside the head tube on a GGE you will see this. The position of the pump pegs could be ordered by the customer in front of or behind the seat tube, or on the downtube, or none at all. Chain oilers could be ordered as well, or opt not to have one. If this were a city bike, the frame would have a braze on chainguard peg at the rear of the chainstay, and have a narrow BB shell, along with 71 degree frame angles, steep fork rake and long chainstays, in addition to straight gauge tubing.
